THE SIRENS CALL - SECRET SHOW
THE SIRENS CALL - RYAN RENSHAW GALLERY BRISBANE
I have an exhibition of new work opening Saturday May 7th at Ryan Renshaw Gallery. Here's the spin -
This new body of work is an investigation into the changing nature of Australian patriotism and it's representation. The last decade of Australian politics has seen a number of coming of age moments for our nation, none less visible than the seduction of nationalism. The central motif to all of this is the ever more ubiquitous southern cross and its variants. Flags, apparel, cars and even bodies are emblazoned with this sign of allegiance.
Returning to the economy of stencilled aerosol and drawing, Dodd has created a suite of works that may be at once celebratory and critical. These images are equally at home on the gallery wall as the grimy surfaces of suburbia.

ADELAIDE CITY COUNCIL MURAL COMMISSION
Officially the largest thing I have tried to paint.
The Adelaide City Council has recently commissioned a number of murals around the CBD.
This new push from the Council is sure to change the nature of street in Adelaide.
Here are a few quick snaps.

SOFT REBELLION - SASA GALLERY
A project that incorporates work from Stuart Bailey, Carla Cescon, Paul Sloan and myself.
April 5th - May 7th, 2011.
The artists exhibiting as part of Soft Rebellion recognise that fighting in modest ways, with actions
that might seem incidental or nominal is invaluable to the cultural and social ecology as a whole.
The importance of simple, small acts of resistance can be significant, providing individuals with important
vicarious release and the potential for reiteration of minority viewpoints.

TRAM
My mate Simon and I were invited by a beer company to make an ad for them.
It's been printed really big and slapped on a tram that's running in Melbourne and a bus in Sydney. We had fun - it was a great opportunity to experiment with something of this scale. Here's a little trailer...

HULBERT ST MURAL - SOUTH FREO pt.1
During my 2010 residency in Fremantle I met a bunch of ethusiastic, socially minded people who mentioned that they'd like a mural painted on their street. I was happy to oblige and it's been a long time coming but with a little support from the City of Fremantle I was able to spend a few days working with the Hulbert St community in realising a mural that celebrates all of the awesome things that they do. It was a fantastic project that brought together talent from both young and old and resulted in something that the street can truly own. There are so many great pics but I've had to select only a few to post here...
A huge thanks goes to everyone who contributed to organising, executing, putting me up and generally looking after me!!

METALHEADS - FORMAT
As part of this year's Fringe onslaught Logan Macdonald has curated a group of artists together for a show celebrating heavy metal influences at Format gallery.
Paul Sloan, James Marshall and myself each presented works reflective of our metal passions. Here's a vid that I made a few years back that was included in the show.

SHAW HENDRY'S AMAZING SIMPSONS COLLECTION
CITY WEST CHILDCARE CENTRE MURAL
During January of 2011 I held a Summer School through the University of South Australia. I had 25 students from all disciplines of the art school for 10 days and introduced them to stencilled aerosol, spray gun techniques and a bunch of other skills required for pulling off murals. Here's a few shots of the finished work.
