TOP END TOUR 2011
During October and November of 2011 I will be travelling throughout Australia's Northern Territory doing a few workshops with community centres and schools. I will be working with Angurugu School on Groote Eylandt, Yirrkala Art Centre in East Arnhem Land and Barkly Arts Centre in Tennant Creek.

THE SIRENS CALL - RYAN RENSHAW GALLERY BRISBANE
I have an exhibition of new work opening Saturday May 7th at Ryan Renshaw Gallery. Here's the spin -
This new body of work is an investigation into the changing nature of Australian patriotism and it's representation. The last decade of Australian politics has seen a number of coming of age moments for our nation, none less visible than the seduction of nationalism. The central motif to all of this is the ever more ubiquitous southern cross and its variants. Flags, apparel, cars and even bodies are emblazoned with this sign of allegiance.
Returning to the economy of stencilled aerosol and drawing, Dodd has created a suite of works that may be at once celebratory and critical. These images are equally at home on the gallery wall as the grimy surfaces of suburbia.

ADELAIDE FESTIVAL PROJECTS & NEWS
BLUE DWELLING
Blue Dwelling is a large, site-specific installation work that is inspired by Japanese homeless dwellings and produced in direct reaction to a found environment within Adelaide’s abandoned Balfours pie factory. The work reflects my ongoing exploration into alternative uses of urban space.
This project is presented as a component of the Fringe festival’s Format event.
Format will bring together alternative formats for writing, information sharing and story telling in a celebration of contemporary alternative ways of writing that are high quality, well written and artistically clever.

DARWINISM
I am presenting a small solo exhibition of recent work featuring paintings and studies produced in response to specific and unique urban scrawl of Australia’s Top End region. Developed as part of my continuing research into the use of individually applied outlaw text in visual arts practice, some of this body of work will be included in a group exhibition at Ryan Renshaw Gallery, Brisbane, in June 2008.

ADELAIDE FESTIVAL LIVING WINDOW PROJECT
For a period of two and a half hours, I will listen only to the Mars Volta’s Cicatriz Esp 12 minute opus played loud and on repeat. Fuelling myself via excessive consumption of energy drinks, my aim is to reach a heightened state of frenetic creativity. I will attempt to create enough text and imagery in response to the epic track to compile an animated film clip.

FILTER MAGAZINE
During the last 3 months I have been busy working as guest editor, in association with Australian Network for Art and Technology’s Filter magazine team. This latest issue of Filter magazine addresses the theme of Graffiti and Technology and has been produced to accompany the visit of international street art superstars, the Graffiti Research Lab.

I am currently involved with Carclew’s Artists in Schools program and will be working with kids at Kaurna Plains High School in Elizabeth. I am teaching skills in stencil making via weekly sessions during first term, with the final outcome being two murals within the school.

HELPMANN MENTORSHIP
Adelaide's Helpmann Academy generously supports mentorship schemes between emerging and established artists. I have recently been appointed mentor to Logan MacDonald, a recent graduate of the South Australian School of Art, UniSA. During the next six months we will be working together towards a collaborative exhibition.
